The Commonwealth has an important role to play as a partner with local school systems across the commonwealth. As a member of the General Assembly I will make it my business to ensure that the funding formulas used to allocate state Education funds return a fair share to Fairfax and Falls Church school systems, reducing the burden on our Real Estate tax base.
As legislative chair of the Greater McLean Chamber of commerce I authored a position in support of a compromise version of the Governor's transportation funding package that will help raise hundreds of millions of dollars for road and transit infrastructure improvements in Northern Virginia.
As your representative in the House of Delegates I will be a strong advocate for common sense measures like universal background checks for all gun purchases, even those of so-called private sellers at gun shows. I support limiting the size of magazines, empowering localities to make their libraries and teen centers gun-free zones, and reintroducing one handgun a month legislation.
Decisions about women's health issues need to be made based on sound science and the best medical practices. Unfortunately, in Virginia women may soon lose access to breast and cervical cancer screenings, pap smears, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment, and contraceptive health care provided at 21 outpatient health centers across the Commonwealth.
Every Virginian has a right to cast their vote and feel confident that their vote will be counted. Voting should be convenient and easy enough that you don't need to take leave from work as a cost of participating in our democracy. I support common sense reforms to allow early voting for any reason or no reason at all.
